CoughIt Project
CoughIt is a mobile application that detects and records your cough sounds, transforming them into musical elements. Even without any musical background, you can easily create unique musical compositions.
Our research aims to gain a deeper understanding of your experience using CoughIt through your participation. We also hope that, through CoughIt, you will discover new possibilities in cough sounds and enjoy the creative process.(中文版本)
CoughIt User Study
Have you been coughing recently? Do you use a smartphone regularly? If so, congratulations — you could become one of the first VIP users of CoughIt! By participating in our user study, you’ll also have the chance to earn up to NT$1,000 in cash rewards.
Study Period: Now through June 30, 2026
Reward Notification: Starting July 1, 2026

Participation Rewards
Rewards will be provided based on your actual usage during the user study period.
1. CoughIt Record Breaker Award (1 winner, NT$1,000)
Once cough detection is enabled, CoughIt will automatically record detected cough sounds in the background. The participant with the highest number of recorded coughs during the study period will receive NT$1,000.
2. Most Popular Music Award ( 2 winners, NT$500 each)
You may submit up to three music creations for public voting. The two participants with the highest number of votes during the study period will each receive NT$500.
3. Social Superstar Award ( 2 winners — NT$500 each)
The two participants with the highest number of valid referrals during the study period will each receive NT$500.
* A referral will be considered valid once the invited participant actively uses CoughIt and completes the questionnaire.
4. Best Collaboration Award ( 2 winners — NT$500 each)
The two participants who create the highest number of collaborative music projects during the study period and complete the questionnaire will each receive NT$500.
5. Lucky Participant Award ( 5 winners — NT$200 each)
Participants who actively use CoughIt daily during the study period and complete the questionnaire will be entered into a lucky draw. Five winners will each receive NT$200.
* At least one valid activity per day, such as collecting cough audio or exploring cough-to-music features, counts as active participation.

Important Notes
1. The research team will verify the validity of questionnaire responses based on system usage records. Participants whose responses are found to be clearly inconsistent with actual usage data will not be eligible for rewards.
2. To complete the administrative process, selected participants must visit the National Tsing Hua University campus in person to sign a receipt form and provide bank account information for reward payment processing.
3. If a selected participant is unable to visit in person, the organizers will instead provide a gift of equivalent value by mail.
